Since 1998, the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office has received accreditation by CALEA - Commission on Accreditation for Law enforcement Agencies, Inc.  And the Sheriff's Office was one of the first Sheriff’s Office in the state of South Carolina to be accredited (nationally, less than 5% of all Sheriff’s Office are accredited).

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office is also a charter member of the South Carolina Police Accreditation Committee.
